White Plains, New York - November 20, 2009 – David T. Welsh, founder and principal of Normandy Real Estate Partners, was honored on Thursday, November 12 at the annual March of Dimes Northern Metro Division Real Estate Award Breakfast which recognizes outstanding individuals and companies whose commercial real estate activities have significantly enhanced the community. The event was held at the Doral Arrowwood in Rye Brook, with CBS 2 Westchester Bureau Reporter, Tony Aiello, serving as emcee for the program. Edward Walsh, President of the Walsh Company, presented Mr. Welsh with the award.
The March of Dimes Real Estate Award Breakfast is one of the industry’s largest benefits in the Tri-State area and is attended each year by more than 500 real estate professionals. Tim Jones of Robert Martin Company and Patricia Valenti of Newmark Knight Frank served as Co-chairs for this year’s breakfast, which raised $220,000 to help the March of Dimes further its mission of helping improve the health of babies.
Several weeks before the event, Mr. Welsh and members of the Real Estate Award Breakfast committee attended a tour of the White Plains Hospital Center’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where they were able to see first-hand how babies and their families are affected by premature birth. Dr. Jesus Jaile-Marti, the hospital’s Director of Neonatology, hosted the tour.
This year’s honoree, Mr. Welsh, has over 14 years of expertise in the real estate industry. Prior to forming Normandy Real Estate Partners in 2002, Mr. Welsh worked at Morgan Stanley, where he managed the United States debt financing activities for the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds (MSREF). Earlier, Mr. Welsh directed acquisitions at Gale & Wentworth, a nationally recognized investment and development firm that assembled a multi-billion dollar property portfolio. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Pennsylvania State University and a member of its Real Estate Advisory Board.
